Destination
Jeju Island and Special Tours
Jeju Island, the host destination of PACIS 2013, is known as the Island of the Gods.
Jeju Island was selected as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. It is a volcanic island 130 kilometres from the southern coast of Korea and a favourite honeymoon destination. The largest island and smallest province in Korea, it has a surface area of 1,846 square kilometres. A central feature of Jeju is Hallasan, the tallest mountain in South Korea and a dormant volcano rising 1,950 metres above sea level, with 360 satellite volcanoes around it.
Relatively isolated from the rest of the world, the nature of the island has been well preserved. Travelling to Jeju is in many ways to travel back in time. The fantastically shaped rocks along the seashores, the hundreds of oreums, or secondary volcanoes, and the rare species of flora around Baekrok dam lake are all treasures waiting to be discovered.
Special tours
Jeju offered a wide range of experiences for delegates and their guests, from coastal walks and waterfall trails to water sports, golf and the unique cultural heritage of the island.
